When i'm trying to update my Apps in iTunes and I do it by clicking Update All (not individually selecting them); i sometimes get the wheel of death and i have to do a cold boot.

anyone else experience this?

Cold boot? I hope you don't mean that you're rebooting the computer. Just do a force quit (Apple menu or command-control-esc).

But as far as the cause, how long are you waiting before giving up? Sometimes it takes a little while for me before the updates start downloading.

You should never have to hard reboot due to a software process being stuck. There may be deeper issues on your machine. Can you still move the cursor when this happens? Have you had the wheel of death anywhere else? Like when you're trying to access files? It could be a hard drive on its way out (worst case). Do you have any external drives attached? Try updating the apps with them removed.

I think this is a deeper issue than just iTunes.
