I'm looking to quickly post some web pages about my business, but would like to use Word while I learn how to use GoLive and Dreamweaver. I know it can be done, but is there anything inherently problematic about using Word to make simple pages for the web? I'm sure the pages will be less attractive, less functional, and just overall pretty nasty, but I'm just looking to get some info up as fast as possible. Other alternatives would work too if anyone has suggestions. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments!

The code Word produces is horrid. If you just want to make a quick and dirty web page with it, there's no reason why you can't, but you'll more than likely will have to rebuild your page from scratch, rather than just opening and editing in Golive Dreamweaver (although Dreamweaver does have a handy "Clean Up Word HTML" command). There may also be an issue with Word-generated pages not displaying properly in every browser... but I don't use Word for html so I wouldn't know for sure.

If you have Fireworks or ImageReady (comes w/ Photoshop), I would suggest building your page from there. You simply create the page layout in Fireworks or ImageReady, create "slices" around your graphics/buttons, and these apps will export your web pages for you.

But if Word is easier for you at the moment, you may as well go with that.

yes two words BLOATED CODE!!

there is a reason Dreamweaver has a "clean up word HTML" command.

one quick way to make a page with dreamweaver that would produce much better code then word is to put everything you need on the page using layers, then use the convert layers to tables command. Again this is not the best way to make a page or the best code, but it would be fast.
