"Inspired" in the 'double dashed line in illustrator' thread, i came here asking for help in a similar subject.
How can i do a dashed or dotted line and stroke (for applying to selections) witn Photoshop 7?

Thanks in advance.

Hey.

I think the same trick applies. Use the paintbrush. You can make a dotted line with a circular shaped brush and altering the spacing. Or create a dash shape, select it, then Define Brush in the Edit menu.

Then just stroke with the paintbrush, after making sure it's set up correctly, 'natch.

Yep, that'll work. Its not quite as elegant as the AI version but works pretty well.

A single dashed line is easy
Round Brush, 200% spacing, Make path from selection, stroke path with brush.

Make path into selection from paths palette, save selection, deselect, create mask, fill mask with black, load selection, stroke selection with white, 2 pixels worked for me.

Double dashed lines are possible too, but a little trickier, involving thick stroking of selection on transparent layer, command clicking layer, new layer, create and stroke path from selection and then similar to before.

I will try and give the explanation a little more depth in a day or two.

Splode, Thanks for the Push in the right direction

Well, I shoulda just referred him to your post in the Illustrator thread. Or copied 'n' pasted ;-)

Couldn't you just make a thick =, define that as a brush with spacing and stroke?

Sadly I'm at a PC at work, but will hafta remember to look in at your post from home, give yer idea the ole college try with Photoshop open in front of me.
