Hey does anyone have a Calcomp Ecopro dry film printer? If so, are you running OS X? I think I'm about to purchase a new computer here at work but since everything is OS X now, I'm not sure if I can use the printer which would be very bad. I know Calcomp went out of business a while back, but I think the printer still sells as Ecopro.

Also if anyone has a Oyo dryfilm printer, does it work under OS X?

thanks for your input if I get any.

I've got one, and it works great under 10.1 You've just got to select the old OS 9 ppd files, and it'll work flawlessly.

Unfortunately, it's not quite as smooth in 10.2. You've got to set the ppd to Gerneric Posstcript Device, and it'll want to change all your page sizes to 8&1/2 x 11 by default, and you have to ignore a couple waring dialogs in Illustrator, but it will print, so long as your AI separation setup prefs are set to the old os 9 MacEcoPro.ppd file.

Quark prints fine out of Classic, in either 10.1. or 10.2.

InDesign prints, but with a similar set of PITA dialogs like Illustrator.

I talked to the guy at Oyo who's supposed to be writing a CUPS based PPD, and he swore it was coming. They hadn't bothered with 10.1.x since they new the whole printing subsystem was about to change with 10.2.

Give 'em a call, and help me light a fire under his @ss.
