Is there an OSX utility that can take all my digital picures and rename them to a basic root with a number indicating the picture number? ie: bday001.jpg, bday002.jpg etc? Can you do this with photoshop? If so how? Thanks for the help.

Funny that you should ask that question today as I have just spent the last eight hours putting collections of oddly named photo's into PHP arrays, allowing them to be called by number instead of by name.
Photo one = item one, that sort of idea.
I'll be interested to see what answers this thread produces.

I have not tried this in Photoshop, but using the convert feature in Graphic Converter, I was able to rename every file I had in a directory test01,02, etc.

In Photoshop 7, open the file browser and find your folder of pictures.
Select all of them and right-click to "batch rename". Then select options as desired.
Saved a lot of time for the pictures I wanted to change the names of.
Hope this helps some people.
