Hi,

I am looking for a cheap graphics tablet and all the places I have looked for tablets they seem to be very expensive. I found one company called Nisis these guys make cheap tablets but appear not to have macintosh drivers.

Does anybody have any reccomendations of where to go? ( I have one other preference as this is for an original iMac OS 9 drivers would be good as OS X is not really a fast enough solution. )

Cheers Edwin

Go sraight to wacom, do not pass go do not collect $200. Pick up a pad you can afford, don't waste your time with the small ass 4 x 5 one.

If he gets what he can afford and follows his "cheap" requirements he get's a small wacom. Not everyone can afford the big guns.

If I was Mr. Deep Pockets I'd be using a Cintiqe (sp?) right now.

Thanks but I was wondering if anyone knew where do get even a Wacom cheaper than RRP.

Also are the other non Wacom pad really that bad?

I am looking for a Wacom for my Uncle who is an artist but he is not really sure a Wacom is worth it and does not want to splash out the $$ for something that he might not use.

I would totally recommend a Graphire 2 from Wacom as a first graphics tablet... I have used other brands, but they are really not much good at all.

I believe that the graphire 2 can be had for about £69 from the macwarehouse, but they also sell reconditioned ones for cheaper...

Also Wacom offer educational prices, if you are eligable they offer a pretty good reductions...

In general, once you have used a tablet in DTP/design, you will never look back...they are really that good

Hope this helped,

Peace,

Marc

I use a "small ass 4 x 5" Wacom tablet and I really enjoy it. It's not like the 9 x 12 Intuos 2 we have at work, but it does the job.
I paid $139 CDN so about $80 US I presume. The only thing I don't like about the small size is that it's not practical with Inkwell. But beside, it's definitly worth it.

The lowest prices I've seen so far have been for refurbished items from CoolGraphicStuff.com--$280 for 6x8 and $380 for 9x12, shipping inclusive (http://www.coolgraphicstuff.com/Waco...os_refurb.html). Anybody ever buy from them?

CruxWorks.com and Gateway look to have decent prices as well on new products.

I haven't been able to find much of an academic discount anywhere. The academic resellers listed on Wacom's site seem often to be more expensive than retail. Even Apple Education seems unreasonable. Any ideas in that regard?
