I've been inpatiently waiting for the day that I can use 24bit PNG's on sites without worrying about compatability. Why? Because then transparency is an option.
The last time I checked, IE 5.5+ for the mac had the best support, even better than IE 6 for windows. Every other borwser had even less complete implimentation.
Have things improved much since then?

OmniWeb 4.1.1 works fine on my site's transparent 24-bit PNGs. I always wondered why the graphics looked so horrible on my PC-using friends' computers -- now I know, so thanks.
