I have designed a newsletter that I want to embed into an email, I do not want to send it as an attachment, I just want the recipient to view the graphics when they open the email. I designed it in Illustrator and chose "save for the web" and saved it as a jpeg, however I tried to insert the pictue into the background of my email and on my screen it looked pretty good, but I tested it out on a few friends and theysaid it looked terrible. Is there any particular way I can get this done so that it wil look the same way on both mac and pc platforms? If so, how should I save it or export it from Illustrator to do this. Also, I am using AOL. Thanks.

Macs and PC's display colors very differently. You may want to check out what it looks like on your friends screen in person (if possible) or set up a hotmail account, send your newsletter to it and view it on a pc at your local library. That being said, the HTML-email stuff that spams send out I've heard is only possible on a pc with some special program or something. I'm not sure. Entourage X has some very basic html email layout abilities but not much. Perhaps sending your email in HTML format with the image as an attachment is the only way, the email reader will display the attachment inline and it will appear in the email window....

Actually you can use the Netscape mail client to embed images into your emaiIs. I send them all the time but I haven't looked into any solution for OS X. I used Netscape 4.7 when I was in 9 and as far as I know Netscape still has a mail client (Netscape 7).

As far as HTML email goes, I was told that Netscape Composer could do it but I just never bothered figuring it out. Seems like it would be fairly simple.
