I'm looking for a good 2+ megapixel digital camera. I need something that will be good for my graphic design classes/ work. I also would like to take it snowboarding, so it should be rugged. With my price range being around $275 - $375 the canon s330 digital elph looks like a real good choice. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? This is my first digital camera, so I'm a little lost. Checked out http://www.steves-digicams.com/ ...has some good reviews..but I'd like some advice from other graphic artists.

digital cameras really still don't provide the color quality or resolution required for medium to high end print work. Nothing better than a good 35mm. That being said my current digital camera recommendation is the Nikon Coolpix...3500 I think it is?

I swear by my olympus d600 and all other olympus's that I've used. Don't know how they fit into your budget. I know quite a few designers who swear by their Canon Digital Elphs too. But my vote goes to Olympus. (though the elph is super nice)

Thanks, I'm going to check out some olympus' tomorrow. So far it looks like the elph though, I'm glad to see that you know some designers who use it, makes me feel more comfortable spending money on one.

Hi, I've had the S230 Digital elph for about three weeks now. It cost $399, so just outside your budget, but for that you get 3.2 MP and 3x digital zoom (2x optical zoom). It's an excellent camera, and right now, Amazon are giving away a free 32MB compact flash card, too. I bought an adapter to put the Compact Flash card straight into the PC card slot of my Powerbook, and it's SIMPLE.

The previous model, the S200, is a lot cheaper, and just about the same size, for 2 MP and a similar zoom. that could be the answer to all your problems. Personally, you can't go wrong with the Canon Elphs, they do what you need to do, and if you are using it for a website, then they are just great.
