Hi!
I just finished reading another thread here in the MacNN forums that discussed problems with HP's drivers and 10.2.2. That's really a shame for HP and its customers.
I own an Epson Stylus 740C and it has had no software or hardware problems in the years (and MacOS's) I've owned it. If and when I upgrade, it will be to another Epson ink jet or a laser printer. So far, though, the 740C has had great B&W print quality and good color photo prints
I have also heard great things about the C82 and believe it would make a great buy. The older C80 and Photo 820 are also excellent printers that can be had for $109 and $79 refurbished (free shipping, I believe) from Epson's online store:

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe Apple already provides bundled support for many of Epson's printers (check if the C82 is one of them). With 10.2, I even regained control of my printer's original maintenance features (cleaning heads, checking levels, etc). Good luck looking for that replacement!
