Hey...
I figured out that you guys would be the ones to know most about my problem so here's the deal.
I've been printing some TeX documents and some Word 98 documents into .ps files with the Apple Laserwriter 8 printer driver on my PowerBook 1400c (166 MHz 603e, 32MB RAM, Mac OS 8.6). Now there are certain issues and problems:
1) Latest GhostScriptLib (v 8.0) does not work
In order to open those .ps files, I need MacGSView and GhostScriptLib. However, the latest GhostScriptLib does not work, when launching MacGSView to open a .ps file, I get the following error message:
"The Library "GhostScriptLib PPC" could not be opened. It must be in the extensions folder."
Where it clearly is, no doubt about that. It's enabled and it's where it belongs. When I replace that particular file with GhostScriptLib 7.0.4 it does not work either, however with an older GhostScriptLib (v 6.something) it works. What could that be?
2) Text is butt ugly
When printing those .ps files, the text is butt ugly. I can't explain how exactly, all I can say is that it is extremely ugly and almost unreadable. I think that may have be linked to that previous problem with the old GhostScriptLib. Also, when exporting the .ps file to .pdf, the text gets even worse, it looks like a letter carnage in there.
I thought that this may have to do with the PostScript driver, and hence downloaded and installed AdobePS 8.8 and various PPDs, but it didn't change anything at all, text is butt ugly and unreadable. Any idea what THAT could be? Is it because of the old GhostScriptLib?
