errr that alienware has a desktop proccessor in (and is really f-ing hot and noisy/heavy) i think the Ti would easly beat a intel mobile proc.

And the fact they didnt even find a solution to the card reader problems so that they could compare the macs to pcs is just damn lazy and moronic

Well, this article doesn't tell me anything I didn't know before. We all know the G4 is an underpowered processor and the latest Pentiums handidly thump it in most situations. However, for a what, 3 year old chip like the G4 it did keep up pretty good for having half the "supposed" megahertz.

That all being said, I don't buy my mac for processing horsepower, I wish I could, but its just not a reality at this point. Why I haven't "switched" is due to a) I'm still paying off this beast, and b) there are more factors to working on a computer than horsepower. On a PC you may be able to get you gaussian blur out 4 seconds before the mac, but is that worth fighting driver conflicts, monthly reinstalls, viruses, horrible OS UI, etc etc etc? I mean, long term does the whole package save you time? For me it doesn't.

He needs the speed to make up for the...
_
1. Time he wastes rebooting to fix Windoze crashes and "blue screens of death"

2. Time he wastes reinstalling software, hoping it will get stuff working again.

3. Time he wastes updating virus checkers to protect against "todays" virus .

4. Time he wastes running virus checkers.

5. Time he wastes trying to figure out why updating one program broke all the others.
6. Time he wastes figuring out how to get out of "dll hell".

7. Time he wastes applying updates to back fill Windoze security cracks and holes
8. etc, etc, etc

So, if his PC is fast enough, maybe he can catch up to a Mac and OS X.

I totally agree with the last statement. The technical problems that Windows post are just insane, and for the most part unacceptable and blasphemous for a Mac user. Re-installing an OS is just something most Mac users have never needed to do, thank goodness.
