Forgive the crazy question...
Wondering if anyone has a device or technique which would enable you to download camera pics into a ipod on the road. Rather than using a laptop. I figure it is impossible, being the transfer would be USB to firewire, but with so many chip sets for Firewire/USB 2.0......
Thanks,

Mike

Last year I tried finding just such a solution. The best thing I found was the Mind @ Work Digital Wallet. They work great but the battery life isn't so hot.

The company website is: http://www.mindsatwork.net/

You can get the old ones a lot cheaper now that they've changed the case style and interface. I bought a 20GB and it was perfect for a trip. I would suggest getting one of their cases if you buy one. It sucks trying to find the perfect sixed case for the thing.

Good luck, and if you find a way to transfer shots directly to the iPod please post the info here.

I was wondering about the same thing.

Apparently, Apple is working on a new iPod that allows users to connect usb cameras and firewire video cameras to download vids or pics. There would be a color screen, etc. to view them.

However, the reality is that this device doesn't exist so far. I don't think there's a way to do it on the road without potentially damaging the iPod or the device.

I guess Apple would have to develop new iPod software that allows users to directly connect devices and configure the connections, etc.

No problem, happy to help.

If you buy one post back here and let us know what you think. All my friend who have bought them think they're great. Hope you do too.
