When I'm rendering something in Final Cut Pro I can't do anything in other applications... it completely takes over the CPU, I thought these days were over with OS X's multiprocessing...

After Effects doesn't do it... any advice ? is rendering in Final Cut Pro faster and less intrusive than in Express ?

This is how it is. In Express and Pro.

I'm hoping version 4 of Pro addresses this issue. If you want to do something while the Final Cut is rendering in the background, you should be able to do this.

Perhaps the dev team will break out rendering/exporting into a separate thread. That would be nice.
