Enough! I'm back to OS 9. All because of Quark and Suitcase.
In OS 9 they work smoothly. In Classic mode, when I open a document, it deactivates fonts it uses, drives me crazy. But now in OS 9 my little network doesn't work. I HATE QUARK!!! As soon I finish this project (in a month or so), I'll try Indesign. But meanwhile, what do I do? Keep working in OS 9? Try Font Reserve? Anything else? ARGGGGHHHH!!!

You're blaming quarkxpress because suitcase isn't managing your fonts correctly with an application thats running in a virtual os on an os not supported by QuarkXpress? And then furthermore blaming it because YOUR network doesn't work via os9? Quark can have the blame placed on it for alot of things, any of the above aren't on that list. I love my quark, and god knows I curse it alot too, but come on, lets get real here.

LOL. You are right godzookie. The way I feel today, If I got a flat tire, I'd probably say" "Damn! I was thinking about all the headaches Quark has given me and becuase of that I didn't see the nail on the road...!!!
I know Suitcase doesn't manage the fonts properly, I know my network doesn't work due to my lack of knowledge. But I HATE QUARK and gonna blame it for it. I hate the "I can't live with you I can't live without you" relationship I have with it. I'm also running Photoshop and Illustrator in Classic mode and they don't give any headache.
Anyways, thanks, you made me laugh and that's a bless today.

that's one hell of a list!

I tried to get suitcase to work with OS X/Classic and it was just more trouble than it's worth..Switched to font reserve, removed the auto-activation plugin and it seems to work pretty good, aside from the occasional database corruption.

I think you can download a demo of FR from their site..might be worth a shot..

or even font agent from insider software.

Something good happened!!!
I deleted all the Font groups I created in Suitcase, closed it, reopened it and then tried to open the document again and VOILA!!! It worked! Suitcase activated the fonts automatically. But that worked because I didn't have any font active except the ones in the System.
But anyways, in OS X Quark still has a problem when scrolling the document, it doesn't redraw the screen (with a 64 Mb video card). I increased the memory allocated in the file properties, but it didn't work. Suggestions?
