hey art & design folk,

i was under the gun trying to e-mail a client some stuffed files earlier this morning. they were calling and putting the flame to my feet but dropstuff was taking an eternity because my files were enormous. in the interest of time i stopped the stuff and broke it down into peiecs that compressed quickly and e-mailed the files to el cliente. now i have the incomplete .sit file on my computer and it won't let me delete the bugger. i get a message saying the following:

the item "file name" is being used by another task right now. try again when the task is complete.

now, dropstuff is closed, i restarted my computer and still get that message. thoughts, ideas?

thx.

I've got this before also, but a restart usually cures it. Try rebuilding the desktop? Or are you in OSX? I've never encountered it there....

If the original file is located on a server, make sure the server is un-mounted, that may be doing it...

I know there is a Terminal command you can do that deletes buggered files like that. I just don't know what it is. Any Terminal gurus out there?

try the command 'remove' like this:

%rm stuffitfile

where 'stuffitfile` is the name of your file you cant remove. Be careful this will remove any file you tell it to, even sys files.
