I'm trying to import a simple Quark doc. into inDesign, which it says it can do in the help guide. I try to open the Quark file in inDesign, and it says it can't do it. Am I possibly missing a plug-in? I'm just using the trial version of inDesign, maybe that's why?

anyone know how to do it?

thanks - it will make life so much easier to just convert my pre-existing quark docs to inDesign

it works fine in indesign 1.0-2.0, maybe it is the trial version, can you give out more details like what quark version you are working?

i don't know if its a bug or missing feature, but indesign cannot open quark 5 file, try to save it as quark 4 and indesign will open it just fine.

thanks for the tip - I saved my files as Quark 4 files and inDesign converted them. That's awesome and will help me learn/use inDesign so much faster.

There's got to be a converter plug-in for Quark somewhere, though. I'll let you know if I find one.

Thanks again G$

If I recall it's not in the trial version. Also when you *do* open a quark doc in InDesign, be prepared to re-do alot of stuff. Just about all it maintains is the text.

Best bet if it's a Quark doc, work on it in Quark.

The trial version is a fully functional version, including the Quark converter.

Okay, my mistake, it's been a very very long time since I used the demo, or even the full version for that matter. It still doesn't convert everything from Quark to In Design format, which was more to my point anyway. Like I said, be prepared to re-purpose alot of stuff.

Best bet, if it's a quark doc, keep it in quark.
