Hey everybody!
I am working on (finally) getting my portfolio and resume online. I've got a start..sort of!

I am in the planning/organization mode now and have a few questions/need some input.

Should I put my whole portfolio (well at least the stuff I have digital files for) on there? More than what is in my book? Less? Should I organize by project (logo design, direct mail, ads, etc)? Thumbnails or full images? (I'm leaning toward thumbnails personally..)

This site will be mainly used as well, an online portfolio. I will be putting the URL on my resume and use it get more freelance work. I do printwork mainly, with very little webdesign.

Any input/advice is greatly appreciated!!

Oh..the URL is:
jeasea.com

I just wanted to see the graphics live, so I just threw that main .gif up there.

hey there. i would suggest a good mix of your strongest work, broken up into categories. thumbnails are a tried and true way to organize/display work, so go for it, if that's what you want.

also, your rollovers on your index page have a slight problem with the black border . . check out the corners when you rollover them. if you are going to be pitching this to clients, the details are going to count IMO.

best of luck with it.

I'd suggest you to avoid using "Coming Soon...". It's not a good idea because it encourage people to create their own time machine

Other than that, the design is a great concept. The font and color go together pretty well.

You could find a secondary font to use. It can be for small texts while primary font (the current one you use) can be for headline, tabs, etc. It make the website more attractive and detailed.

LOL--yeah! I am working on it today (very slow day at work).
I am definitely thinking a secondary font, something to go with Bauhaus.
Thanks for your input!

I work in Gaithersburg at a large automotive dealership. I brought everything in-house and do all the marketing/advertising for them. HUMMER/Lamborghini/Lotus/Chevy/Kia/Honda.
I actually have an interview next week with an agency in Bethesda, which I am pretty siked for. I am looking for a new job.

when you have actual content to crit, let us know. Putting two buttons up and asking for opinions is a waste of time. There's nothing to crit.

Unless those two buttons just aren't working for me in Explorer 5.1.

?

I wasn't asking for a crit on the site. I was asking input about what to put ON the site in terms of portfolio work, how to organize, etc.

One of the biggest rules I had to learn about building a port site was that you want it to be as simple and as easy to navigate as possible. One thing a potential client/employer doesn't want to do is spend a lot of time trying to see what you have to offer.
As far as what to put on it.. 5 of you fav's from different catagories is your best bet.

I agree on the simple part--I lean toward clean designs, so I am sure that will be evident in the site.
Thanks for the advice--that's probably what I will do.

Try to remember that most of the world still uses default resolutions on their 'puters, so dont be afraid to make your images a little bigger "k" wise. I saw the one thumbnail for you have and even on my laptop (which is 1152x768) the image was fuzzy. I consider the thumbs almost more important than the linked image, cause if it doesn't look appealing, they won't click it . You can look at what I have up so far and see if it helps give you any ideas.
