Ok, I have Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I create an image...but the entire artboard is saved when I save the file. So every image I create has a rectangular, white background even when I don't want one.

I know this is simple...can anyone help me out?

I assume that the problem you're having is when you make a file in Photoshop and import it into Illustrator you see the whole file and not just the artwork that you created?

Make a clipping mask in Photoshop. When you import into Illus. only what is in the mask will be shown.

THANKS! It's actually the other way around...but I'm sure that's the issue. Will try soon.

what versions of Illustrator and PS?

Check your artwork because later versions of PS will only show Illustrator artwork contained within the smallest bounding box that can enclose the artwork.

You either have stray points and shapes, or old software.
