I'lll be sending a publication regularly to print. I have to send it PDF format, ready to print. Now I have some concerns:
- I receive ads that will be included in the publication. many are PDFs. How can I check that the images contained in those pdf files are CMYK?
- Which is a good preflight software? Does it check if the images are CMYK or RGB?

In the school we use flightcheck . It does pretty good job but only teacher can use it. I usually use preflight option in InDesign to do the flight checking. It does really good job too.

flightcheck *is* the preflight application. The magazine I work for, and just about every, scratch that, every publication I've ever worked for uses it for preflighting. It will tell you everything you need to know about a file.

Second this I use Flightcheck to send my ads to magazines. You can set your own ground controls to make it specific for certain jobs.

Flightcheck is good, but it can't help you fix the dodgy pdfs that people *will* send you. You want something like Pitstop Pro that will let you convert rgb pdf to cmyk and more (if your printer's rip can't handle them, some can) Talk about a can of worms!

Pitstop Pro? Hmmmmm... I'll take a look. That's my major concern, because I can guarantee my work (well, almost 99% of it), but what is sent... I better make sure. Thanks

Wow! I just looked at their website. It is fncking expensive!!! 599.
