Yeah, the pictures look great on the camera, great on my Mac, great on the computers of my friends (ie I have sent the shots around), and then look dark and shadowy when printed by commercial services (I have not yet tried the iPhoto service from Kodak; I would bet they are good so that may be the way to go, but the priceis high). In essence, I see the probelm as the external printing services as having low fidelity to the original image.
I do think that I should be able to adjust settings on my TiBook's screen, but there seem to be too many choices with that particular preference. If I could get the screen of my TiBook to show the photos as somewhat dark and shadowy, then I could manually adjust contrast and brightness and hopefully produce JPEG files that will print bright from the external service.
