Hey all,

When both Photoshop and Illustrator are open in OS X, either one may often freeze and require a force quit. I've got them both up to the latest versions and patches. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Noam

I have latest versions of these two and run them simultaenously as well. I never have these freezes though. List your hardware, it might help. I'm running dual 500mhz g5 tower.

I have a conflict between Suitcase 10 and Mac: Word (while the other computer in the office does not), but I can run Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Quark at the same time.

Go figure.

It's pretty well known that Word doesn't play nice with the font managment utilities in X. MS damn sure knows about it, but we all know how innovative they tend to be out there in Redmond… innovate a damn fix!

As for the original problem, it sounds like it may be an issue of inadequete disk space, too little ram, or both. When Photoshop and Illustrator are open, they use a portion of the HD for scratch space (in addition to what the system may allocate to those apps for virtual memory)… that means, like most of us already know, that PS and Ill can be massive resource hogs. So, if both apps are creating vm swap files, plus both of them need scratch disk space where much may not be available, you can get problems. So first off, make sure you have enough free disk space. This is all assuming that your disk space and memory are low to begin with, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
