In Quark, there's a checkbox 'Separations' in the first screen of the Quark print dialog.

That will print the 2 separations, but they will be in black i think, not in the duotone colours.

do it in photoshop by printing one channel at a time, iirc.

Use the color picker, seperate the colors by selection and layer.

If it is only two colors that should be easy.

how does quark realize thats its a duotone.,,,i think the way i did it, it recognizes it as a CMKY file because i went to print>output and it shows all 4 colors to be printed and at what angle. is there a way i can separate it NOT in the print box? thanks for all the quick replies!

To do it from Quark:
- Save your Photoshop duotone as EPS.
- Open Quark document, place Photoshop EPS file. Your spot color(s) should appear in the colors palette.
- Hit Print. In Document tab, click "Separations." In output tab, Plates should say "Process and Spot" and your spot color(s) should appear, toward the bottom of the list.
(NOTE: This requires a PostScript enabled printer. But then, I assume you're not burning your silkscreens from anything else.)

To print duotone channels from from Photoshop:
- Convert your duotone to "Multichannel" mode. This will give you separate channels for each that you can then print on their own.
(If you're doing a "straight" duotone with no custom curves for either color, the two channels will be the same.)

Make sure the screen angles are different for the 2 colors or the dots will end up on top of each other.
