Go here.

http://www.timberwolf.a.se/type/engdex.html

Type in this: Command/F then type,

Aalborg

Interesting hm?

Ok, now then about your question: I can't help you there. But, know this; it will be on my mind and if I find it I will return here and tell you where to find it.

Cheers!

To get a believable Absolut font, I used Futura Condensed Bold. I believe it's installed as part of Office or something, but can't be sure.

I have it if you don't.

I've tried a few futura fonts I have, but they all look too blocky, none are really clear. this futura iirc, what does the iirc mean, if anything and could I get a hold of it for free? thanks.

Yes, their logo is customized. Yes, it is very close to Futura Condensed Bold, which is what their ads and print materials use for headlines (I don't remember exactly which cut, though). If you look closely at their actual logo, it has little tiny serifs. The above link seems to have a downloadable version.

(I used to do work for them, including doing some logosheet/usage guidelines stuff)

"IIRC" means "If I Recall Correctly". It's not part of the font name - he's just saying he remembers it being Futura.

well, I seem to have fugured out part of the problem...
when I use futura extarboldcondensed in photoshop, it comes out just fine like the ads and all, but problem is, I am using Quark for all the type and for some reason, all my futura fonts are block-like and terribly ugly. It would be all fine and good to use photshop, but the fonts always show up smudged once in Quark—and it's much more of a pain to track and kern fonts in photoshop, particularly since my photoshop doesn't want to remember layers! But it'd be much easier to do this in Quark, but as i said, the font for some reason is very block-like and pixelated I guess—not smooth—so I wondered if anyone knew why and if so, what could I do to fix it? also, giving me the lettering for ABSOLUT doesn't help—though maybe some use later might be found—cause I need other words after it in the same font and size. Thanks.

yeah, I didn't really have a chance to think of that yet, cause most of the type was already done in quark, and I wanted to figure out what the problem was with it—guess I was just being a bit stubborn I suppose. Illustrator has a bit of a problem too I recall, as I was reminded of today. While fixing the tracking and kearning, it decided to quit on me before I saved a damn thing. regardless, I probably will finish it in illustrator, and thanks for the recommendation.

yeeah, first, i got a mac, so that wouldn't work, and second, I figured out my problem, which was I guess I have missing font outline files for futura, yet, myesteriously, futura works in photoshop and illustrator just fine, but not in quark. though in illustrator, I have used some recent fonts I've downloaded and illustrator has told me I am missing their outline files and they may not show up right...so I'm at a loss at the inconsistency of these programs regarding fonts. maybe someone here knows why and could tell me? bu8t thanks for the tip anyhow, aprreciate it.
