How do I make an image more transparent so I can....

put it on top of another image.

I know I can layer the images but I need the bottom image to show through.

I have Painter 8, Photoshop Elements, Canvas 9.

easy to do in photoshop. don't use the other apps you mention.

Painter 8 should let you adjust the opacity of layers.

Reduce the opacity or increase the translucency of the top layer.
