I just found out the plans to release Photoshop 8, and possibly newer version of Illustrator and InDesign as well, by the end of this year...That's awesome but at the same time sucky for me because I just ordered the Adobe Design Collection to use with my new iBook. Im kinda kicking myself about the fact that im probably gonna have to update them soon and shell out more money.

The only good thing about my situation? I got the collection from journeyed.com which is affliated with my school and i got it for very cheap. Gotta love those educational discounts.

Oh, well! I just hope that photoshop 8 will kick very very serious butt so that i wont feel so bad about it. LOL

Yes, and if you buy the non-edu upgrades, it will upgrade your license from Educational, to full.

Then you can make money with what you create, legally.

I am in the same boat, bought the Design Collection around February and am happy to see that before the end of the year Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop may be updated.

Specialy if that means nice speed ups in OS X.

I hear classic is being dropped in Photoshop 8, so that should mean better OS X optimization.

Correcto! and from what I've been hearing, one major reason is because PS7 was made to capitalize on the G4 processor and may have problems when used with the G5. The only upgrade that I am the least bit interested in is InDesign 3.
