I thought that InDesign was supposed to open Quark doc's automatically? I have a file form Quark 6 and InDesign can't open it. And I tried saving it as Quark 5 and InDesign still couldn't open it. Its ID2.0.2, the newst version there is. I don't get what I'm doing wrong. I really need to work on this file so if you know the trick, or have any other ideas please let me know asap :-) thanks

Well I would think that since Quark 6 is a new version that something in the code is breaking when you are trying to import into ID2. Even when you are saving down to Quark 5. This happens all the itme when a new version of software comes out. Some part of the code breaks when opening a file in another software package that say's it can do it.

when talking about quark it doesn't need to be the newest version to screw your happiness. quark corrupts files more than any other software i use.
i hate quark. i love quark. i hate it more than i love it. regardless, the company blows.

InDesign opens version4 files, and only version4. 4.1 will not work, nor anything higher. Adobe reverse engineered the file format. Expect it to break.
BTW its in the manual

Don't worry...I'm sure Adobe will be able to fix this eventually.
Anything to screw Quark, and that's why I love them.

Quark v4.11 open in InDesign just fine. I do it all the time. Even PC v 4.x open without a problem. BTW Quark 6 is just v5 for OSX and it still sucks.

Yeah turns out the document wasn't that complicated after all so I just recreated it in InDesign. I went to school on Quark and I gotta tell ya, InDesign really blows it away. I'd take ID over Quark any day.
