Hello:

I'm now working on a new DVD using DVD Studio Pro 2.0. On the overall, it's a spectacular improvement on DSP 1.5.2, but I'm still running into problems with the subtitles feature.

I understand that I have the option of 32 subtitle streams, but as this DVD will be done in only English, I need only one subtitle stream. Being a sign language project, it does not have any audio, so I have to sync the person signing with the English subtitle.

So for the first subtitle stream, I added the first text at "Add Subtitle at Playhead" on the subtitle timeline. I adjusted the text, etc., and then played it back. Perfect! 1.5 seconds later in the timeline I needed to add another subtitle, so I added the second text at "Add Subtitle at Playhead" at the new position on the timeline. I typed in the new text and saved the project.

Here's the problem. I can NOT make this second subtitle show up, even though I've compared its settings (via the Subtitle Inspector) against the first text. Yup, identical. The first subtitle shows up without any problem, so I'm very frustrated. For what it's worth, the yellow bar for the first subtitle is bright yellow, and the yellow for the second subtitle is dull yellow. Sometimes this changes, depending on which subtitle I'm in, so I don't know if it means anything in this situation.

While I appreciate the addition of a PUBLISHED manual coming with DSP 2.0, there is unfortunately not a chapter listing what problems you might run into and what you could do to fix them. Hence, this email to y'all. I'm just hoping that this is NOT a bug because the Subtitle Editor in DSP 1.5.2 was truly buggy.

Any advice or workarounds for this problem would be *most* appreciated. Thanks ever so much.

Sincerely,

Raymond
