im trying to print out an image from photoshop with some text, it looks fine on screen, but its very jagged in print (even the text) looks like an old computer game without AA. is there anything to smooth this all out?

This is normal.
On-screen, 72ppi looks fine, but for printing you'll need around 300ppi imagery.

Its probably a combination of a low resolution image, and a missing printer font.

The text should come out clean if you have both the screen font and the printer font.

If you're missing the screen font, it will look bad on the screen, but will print out okay. If you're missing the printer font, it'll look good, and print bad. Stupid fonts.

Its sort of a pain to manage, and I personally would like to move to a pure OpenType system, but that costs money. OH:

you are incorrect, he is printing from Photoshop the text and graphics are both locked to the image's resolution regardless of printer font.
