I think you need to upgrade to PS 7 first.

not really, there was not to many new features in 7 or cs. (alot of pros are complaining about it being only an upgrade to 7.5, they do not think it has enough features to make it a full new release, and I agree with them)

Most of the educational priced software are at 1/4 list price. Most commercial upgrades are at 1/8 to 1/4 list price.

The way to do it AFAIK is to keep getting ed versions, or bite the bullet and pay for the first commercial version, then do upgrades.

I can get Adobe CS at the education price. Are there actual differences between the education/commercial versions or is it simply pricing? If I go for the education now, will that hinder me in the future? Will I not be able to upgrade in the future when I'm out of school? i can't find my answers on Adobe.com

thanks

no feature differences, just price. and when you get out of school you'll have to fork up the full price for photoshop like the rest of us.

in other news, I am still trying to come up with a reason to upgrade to CS, but I really can't find any.
