Can Illustrator 11 sample colors from a placed Photoshop file? I really miss this feature that was available with the eyedropper in 8 does anyone know a workaround in 10?

Digital Color Meter (incl w/ MacOS) can sample for you.

We had this problem in 10, double-click the eyedropper tool and go to appearance -> transparency and uncheck it.

Now you can sample colors from any placed file.

You can also just hold shift and retain the transparency feature—either way works.
