I am curious what others out there think of this logo redesign for a valued client. His old logo looked like this:
This client of mine recently had a phenomenal racing year, winning a major championship and wanted a new look for 04. This included a new car to be raced in 04, hence the change in color.
Thus far my immediate circle of contacts either love or hate the logo. Some love it for simplicity, fluidity, and smooth lines. Some hate it for those very reasons.
I could sure use feedback from more people before I make the pitch to the client. Appreciated as always:
Honesty is appreciated. If you flat out hate it, that's okay to admit.
Thanks!!!!

Eyenovation I personally like the Blue and Grey logos... One they are easier on the eyes and are easy to use for the web with diffrent colors. Also I think that less is better.

They're looking good. I like the colors but I think that the text is too pushed together horizontally. It feels like it needs some air. When looking at the logo from a distance, it's not pretty readable.
Also, be sure that margin width between all letters are in the same width.
Other than that, I think you got a good stuff. I really like the racing shirt with buttons

One more thing, maybe you could fill in white in any holes to reduce complexity of the image.
Here's an example:

That's an excellent point!
Thanks for bringing that idea to the table!

I sort of like the older logo better, as I get a better sence of the whole racing thing. the current logo could be for Bills Sub Shop. That said, the look itself is nice.

The logo looks good.
I have one problem with it though.
Is "Racing" purposely lower than "KLS"?
Maybe it's me but my eye is drawn right to that and it just bugs me.

I noticed this too. Its not necessarily a bad thing, but it should probably go in one direction or the other.
So you can have it either totally aligned or very prominently below.
Besides that really minor detail I like it. The color choices are good, it reads well,
and doesn't scream out racing like the older logo.

Funny thing, that. It does look lower. But use the top of another window as a guide and it seems to actually align. Must be an optical thing with how the S and R fit.
That doesn't mean it shouldn't be compensated for somehow - either altering he letterforms or shifting a word slightly.

Wow! That's a really weird optical illusion!

As for the logo itself, I think you need to fix some of the spacing and kerning. The major issues:
- The L looks too wide and makes a huge hole. I'd shorten the leg. Maybe the C as well.
- the C and I are really close. Give 'em some air to breathe.
Did you horiz. scale it? It seems stretched just a tad too much. Could just be me.
And last but not least, I have some concerns about it reading in one color, without the color difference to separate words. Maybe the aforementioned shift suggestion would be good for this reason. Or some space between words.

I like the colors, and I like the layout, but I really don't like that font. I think it looks to 'cartoonish'. Maybe a similar font with a square look instead of the curves.

I dont like it at all. colors are old and drab. Give em some life and vivaciousness and kick it up as the chef says.
