I just bought Creative Suite Pro, but can not figure out how to add a simple line of copy to an existing *.jpg or *.pdf file !!

You know, like using MS Paint ( on the 'other side of the street ) for example?

Any clues?

there are multiple ways/paths to do that. look in the help menu of applications

I almost hesitate to say this, but-

Did look in the 'Help' menus of the applications:
1.) Illustrator CS
2.) Photoshop CS
3.) InDesign CS
4.) GoLiveCS
5.) Acrobat 6.0 Pro

Had I 'seen' a simple and straight-forward way I would not have posted to begin with.

The problem seems to be 'context' or turn-of-phrase differences bewteen 'seasoned-professionals'
and 'newbies' in terms of digital approach.

All I need do at this point is add a simple line of copy upon an existing *.jpg or *.pdf file.

( OS X v. 10.3.1 et al defaults to *.jpg, but using Acrobat 6.0, saving as a *.jpg is very simple
and staright-forward. Adding a line of type, it would appear- Is Not.)

If it's a PDF use Acrobat. In Acrobat 6 Pro select 'Advanced Editing' in the toolbar and select the text touchup tool to edit any text.

If it's a jpeg then use Photoshop and use the type tool.

press "t"

click where you would like to start typing.

start typing.

hit enter on the number pad when you are done.

Newer version of Acrobat allow you to edit PDFs, Jpegs are flat, you cannot edit it natively. Either can be edited in Photoshop, w/ a Jpeg just create a new layer and use it as a type layer.
