Hmm.. I love type/fonts..but seems a bit overboard to me.

I always liked the MoMA logo though..so who knows.

What really gets me is that this kind of "refreshening" or "redesign" (if you can even call it that) is far to typical of the logo refresening that has been going on these days... either it is too safe (as in this case), or way out in left field. In some cases, a little retouching is just the ticket, but not in this case. He could have been daring, pushed it a little further. I mean, it is a "Modern" Art Museum.

That's a pretty good article... I never even knew that MoMA was considering redoing their logo, and I never would have noticed if not for that piece.

I'm sure there's a joke in this somewhere regarding typographers and light bulbs, but I'll be danged if I can work it out.

The joke is that the guy who redesigned the logo is a typographical purist, but he isn't a "graphic designer" (from what I can tell)... so, he stuck with what he knew, which seems to be type design and type refinement.

I guess you can blame the MoMA for finding the right guy for the wrong job.
