fook the 'best' schools. that's not what it's about. it's inside you.
i went to a top school for a brief period of time (money ran out) and most of the people there were just rich kids who didn't give a fig about design – they just wanted an easy out with school. the good people rise to the top regardless of schooling.
find a place with good basics (zookie mentions some of them). but they aren't the only places to go. if you have it in your heart you will find the way. trust me, i did and i couldn't afford a top design school. most of the original fallon folk were from the good ol' university of minnesota. u of texas is great, or at least it was a few years back. portfolio center is DEAD. miami ad school is a vo-tech but some talented people come out of there. art center, mcad, parsons, etc., etc., etc.
what i'm trying to say is that fire in the belly is the key, not the institution. make sense?

i agree with art director.
i went to one of those schools up there, and granted I haven't done anything amazing, but, of...*thinks* the...... 50 or so designers who graduated with me, guess how many are working in the design world today?

Seems like a harsh world, I know MCAD up here was supposed to be good, aswell as AI. art_director posted some great advice, along with godzookie's factually stated opinion.

hey, you went to SCAD too? lol.
Seriously, though, it doesn't matter what school you go to, they'll all give the opportunity and the tools to develop your talents, assuming you have those talents to start with. Go somewhere with a strong focus on the fundamentals, and a low student / professor ratio, and you'll do just fine.
visit campuses, feel out the vibe of the town as well as the campus, you're going to be living there for a few years.
Once you get into the field, it doesn't matter where you went to school, it's all about your portfolio and your personality, how well you know and articulate your abilities.
good luck.

keep in mind though, the best schools, tend to have the best instructors who can develop your talents and skills better than someone who isn't as good. This isn't always true, but it is often true. It shouldn't be considered a dealbreaker though.

Ironically, they have one of the worst, most unusable websites I have ever seen. I have no idea if they are a good institution, but if I was in the market, I would think twice.

Very nice works mate.
So, the question is, is worth to go for e.g. a 'certified Adobe center' ? how much money do you think is worth to spend on it?
