Okay got a client that wants me to develop an html email so that the sales staff in the office can send it out to "special" clients. [The email has reward info].
I'm new to this so bear with me:
So I'm designing the layout in dreamweaver mx. The client wants the email to be small, so I think we will have the graphics linked to a remote server.
Now - each sales person will have this html file on their PC.
How and in what format should I provide them the layout? I'm questioning this because on the mac, sending out html emails in os 9 (which I'm in) has been a pain in the ass(especially with Entourage-have to us a damn script!). So I'm assuming the same for a PC. Am I wrong? Or what do I need to tell them so that they can get it to work?
Much thanks!
PS - know anyplaces on the web where I can find more info about this?

I have just been in a very similar position.
It's actually pretty easy to send HTML enail from the PC.
Try this page
I know it looks like it's for kids but it contains better info than I could find...even on microsoft.com The important stuff (save as stationary) is right at the bottom of the page.
There is also another method here which just sends the page direct from IE.
For both methods, definately upload all images to the server with absolute paths!

yes, all you have to do is send the sales folk an html file. make sure its html transitional, most email clients won't render xhtml spec properly. Secondly, keep it tables and keep it simple, try not to use nested tables the email client will clog up. And lastly, yes, direct link your img tags.

Thank you! One last question...what if the email program is Outlook and not Outlook Express?
A friend said that opening up the html file on the local machine with IE, selecting all, copy, and then pasting in the body of the email also works.

you can't send the kind of html email you are trying to send with outlook for mac. actually not for any program on the mac. I *think* outlook for pc makes it easy to attatch a html file... not sure though, run some tests.
