I would be very grateful if someone could help me recreate this round pixellated effect. The picture is a self portrait by Andy Warhol using an Amiga (it was quite hard to track down).

I have been experimenting with a combination of overlaying a vertical lines pattern and applying a mosaic filter to the image - but this is too regular, and doesn't capture the round shape of the pixels.

Perhaps mess around with the "Color Halftone" filter?

That's a good start (thanks), but I still need to find a way to emphasise the vertical stripes.

Also, is there a paint splatter type brush in photoshop? He seems to have applied colour in a single tone, with random transparent gaps between pixels.
