Anyone have good tips on maintaining the richness of color in a digital photo files when saving for display on the web? I'm using PhotoShop 7 and hate how the colors become so muted when I save a photo. I realize there will be some difference in color once saved, but I've seen some sites that have nice rich colors. I'm using the default color space profile in PS and saving the photos as JPG's with little compression. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know if this would help, but I always save my photos for web as a new SAVE AS file... and save the image that way (usually at the 8 compression rating on the jpeg compression scale).

I almost never use "Save For Web".

The "Save-For-Web" adjusts the colors I believe for a Microsoft color palatte...but I just can't stand to look at them on a Mac as they get very lite and unsaturated...so I always use images set to the Mac standard and saved as new jpegs. As far as I can tell the only disadvantage of this is that the file size is larger.

Also...When you ftp in your images the image icon is stripped away so the final web image is a bit smaller than what you saved it as.

EDIT: Oh..I do use Save-For-Web if I'm just being lazy and the photo quality is not important. But if it is for a high quality image I would never use save-for-web.
