I'm looking at Zapfino in Font Book and there are a bunch of decorative characters that I want to try out in a design I'm working on (Photoshop 7). If you're on OS X you can see what I'm talking about by selecting View -> Repertoire and scrolling to the very end of the Zapfino page.

But Key Caps doesn't seem to show the characters, the Character Palette won't let you view only one font, and font book won't let you copy a character.

Do you have Art Directors Tool Kit? (It was included on my OSX machine.) It has a Key-Caps-comparable facet to it, wherein you can look at symbols (and see the key commands to type them).

I do, but I'm looking and it seems to only accept keyboard input. I need something to get characters not accessible from the keyboard, otherwise key caps would be just fine.

found a neat little tool calledunicode font info which does everything I needed it to. Except the damned characters I'm looking for don't appear in the listing
