OK... In Quark, on the master page, you can set up an automatic folio. or page number, that adjusts itself as you add or delete pages...

Is there anyway to do that in InDesign?

For the page numbers, go to your master page, create a text box, go to Type — Insert Special Character — Auto Page Number. Indesign will insert a character which becomes the folio on your regular pages . . . and those numbers will change automatically as you add or delete pages.
