I am experiencing significant lag time when working with a heavy text layout in Quark. I have only had my Powerbook G4, 1.25 GHz a week and I am a bit freaked out. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks for any help!

i've been using qx.6.1 on the same machine but haven't had any such problems. hmmmmmmmmm...

can you tell us more about the file(s) and your setup?
file(s) native to qx.6.1? if not, do they come from qx.5 or earlier?
any art? if son, what is it? what app(s) was it created / altered in?
what fonts are you using?
what font management app are you using?

one problem i was having was because i was running qx.5.1 at the same time i was running qx.6. you running multiple versions?

thanks for the reply. my set up is very straightforward.

i was creating a new document in 6
-no photos/no art, just words

i tried it with several different fonts with the same lag time.
i use suitcase X1.

the confusing thing is that i have an identical setup at work and when i open the document at work it runs smoothly.

that is why i think it must be something about the new quark i bought for my home laptop.
when i called quark they told me that it was because my "refresh rate" in the apple cinema display was listed as "n/a". but it is listed as that on my work computer as well and i think that has to do with the fact the monitor is an lcd.

i'm really perplexed. any insight would be appreciated. thanks-

do you have auto font-activation on or off in suitcase? if it's on try turning it off, restarting and reopening the document.
