Such a nice feature, apparently only available in the Windows version of Photoshop. I was working the other day on updating my business card and needed to quickly know what the modifier key on a particular tool was going to do. Being new to Macs, I'm accustomed to glancing down at the status bar for quick references on tools. For example, selecting the clone tool, if you press CTRL, in the Windows version of Photoshop it will tell you "click to set desired origin from which to duplicate" in the status bar. Pretty handy. Why'd they decide to omit this from the Mac version? Do they assume all Photoshop users on Macs are professionals and don't need any help?

Mac Users doesn't need Wizards too
IMO, I like it better when I "discover" a feature rather than a status bar telling me stuffs.

By the way, Tool Tip is a "substitute" for status bar.

I think it changes the mouse pointer on a Mac, to show what the modifier key does. Like if you hold down Shift with the selection tools, then it adds a little plus sign to your pointer.

Amorya
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.
