I've had Photoshop CS since it was released, and when it was first installed it worked just fine. One day, for no apparent reason, I stopped being able to drag images to Photoshop to open them.

Normally I can drag images to Photoshop's icon in the dock, or in the Finder, and it will open the image. Whereas now, it will 'accept' the image (will highlight when image is held over it) and Photoshop will open up/come to the foreground once an image is dropped on, but the image won't actually be open!

The only way I can open file is to go File>Open, which is a real pain. I have already tried trashing all it's preferences - so does anyone have any other bright ideas? This is driving me nuts!

I've recently developed the same problem, no ideas as to a fix.
Seemed to develop after I installed the Creative Suite over my original Photoshop CS-only installation.

Any-hints, any-one?

i had the same problem recently when i moved all my files from another HD (including prefs, application, etc..).
deleting half the prefs didn't seem to work (altho i might have missed a few). you might want to try this first. you may have better luck.

i ended up deleting all the adobe prefs (they're in a bunch of places) and reinstalling the entire suite. not the best solution, but it worked.

Yep, slow and steady re-installation did the trick.
Much to my chagrin, I suppose, but it DOES work.....hmm.

Is there a way to fix this without a complete reinstall? I recently moved (and am about to move again) and all my original software CDs are buried away in boxes. Could you maybe just copy the application to disk, delete everything, then drag the application back over?
