I'm getting ready to buy a new digital camera, and I have narrowed it down to 2 cameras:
The Canon Powershot S60
and
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC T1

I wanted to get the opinions of some fellow Mac users on which camera to buy. I'm looking for a high quality, compact camera (both look to have pretty impressive sample photos). The Canon has very vivid colors and a very sharp picture, but I almost think the Sony does a better job adjusting the apperature to better focus on the subject. That being said, each camera has its stong points: the Canon's being its high quality and adjustability, the Sony's being it's ultra-compact size.

I would really like to get a camera that I can take with me anywhere, which is definitely possible with the Sony. On the other hand, I don't just want a higher quality phone cam. I have a decent 35mm SLR, but I would like to have a capable digicam as well.

Let me know what you guys think about these two cameras, and if I'm overlooking a stellar competor.

Thanks!

i personally use the cannon digital elph. mine is an older version, the s230, but it's a great little shooter. takes nice shots but have occasional trouble with red eye. it's a point and shoot so you're not talking about the high end devices but it's a smart little fella. i recently took it to a client event that i did the work for. i took some shots of my work up at the show and they were great. so good, in fact, that my client asked to use them for a pr recap piece. the icing on the cake is that it's so small that i can carry it in my pocket and tend to do so everywhere i go.

I own a PowerShot G5. I have nothing bad to say about it. It is fast, too many options for the average day to day.

The S60 looks great with many add-on options like second battery charger and waterproof case for taking out in the weather.

The other looks great but perhaps - fragile?

See if you can hold one at a local camera store that is the true test. Try them both and see how do they feel.
