To all artists please I need your advise and help. I'm a sculpture student at UNT and I'm taking a business course this summer for my minor. I have a class project to complete a business plan in 5 weeks instead of a full semester.

Ok let me tell you the story so far. The Class started three weeks ago with only two weeks left. The first week we formed teams of four. My team came up with an idea and after the first week my teacher suggested that we change projects and come up with another idea. So we came up with a restaurant. Two more weeks and the two girls went to the teacher and told her that they were doing all the work and me and my other partner was not pulling our weight. Well they called a team meeting with the teacher to solve this problem. The teacher did not think that it was a problem with sharing the work load. The girls got sad and scared that we would give them bad peer evaluations and wreak there grade. It was crap. Well the project was a mess and the girls were looking for a scape goat. One wanted to split and convinced the our and we split with only two weeks left.


Well after that I had to start over again from scratch. Man I was pissed the girls were walking away with the other half of the project and all the resources. Well I felt like I had just had my legs taken out from under me.

Good news is that project was a nightmare and the teacher concerned about the situation helped us come up with a new idea. The idea is that me being a sculpture student that the business plan should be selling my sculpture. She briefly walked us through it and convinced us. The project is great I love it but time sucks.

I need help from all the artists on the board or anyone that thinks they could help. The Company is simple it has a website that displays the sculpture and can be purchased by calling me on the contact info or inquires by email. I know the sculpture for sale and how much it costs and what is takes to do more. The main portion of the business is to promote my art work and the website. I have not taken any Marketing classes and Advertising. I can create the website and the ads but for the business strategy and plan.

Market research is hard to find any suggestions. It is in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Area or more specific Denton. Also in order to promote use flyers and mailers as well as try to get in to galleries. Even Donating a piece to a Auction and get a both at a arts festival.


I'll write more latter this is a lot to take in I understand. Time is a Factor. We are about nearly half way done but will be working on it constantly. It is due next monday at the earliest and the following Wednesday at the latest.

This is a class project and is only a plan so it will not actually be any real cost to write the plan. I can write in my original investment. Money is not a problem but keeping it simple and starting small is important.
