Hi folks

How can I design web mailouts, containing images, formatted text and possibly links? They would be sent from an ordinary email account and only go to about 50 recipients.

I'm thinking of the kind of thing that Roxio have just sent me after subscribing to their forum. A kind of 'e-flyer', with images embedded in the message body, etc.

Ideally, I'd simply design something in Flash or PS. Or would this require HTML?

The mailouts would advertise events for the youth arts project I run.

Thanks

It depends on your mail program. Is it web based or it is like the Mac Mail App.
Most apps will let you do HTML with in an email (to an extent).
You can creat an image in PS (or what have you) and place it in your email as a "Background" Then you can type over it, or leave it as your email.

Hope this helps.

Also check out app.com's download section. they have several apps for mass emailing with HTML.

Thanks

It sounds like the easiest thing to do would be to contain everything in a jpeg and send that. Links would be nice though - maybe I could just type these underneath.

The emails could be sent from Outlook or Yahoo.

Generate an HTML page with images stuck on a remote server.
Do a bit of reading to find out how to send multi-part mime emails.
If you have any programming skills this is fairly straight-forward from PHP, perl etc.

If not there are tools to do this for you, have a Google for them.

Don't send just a jpeg. That's well naff, and anyone who has images switched off will not see anything..

To find out how to make a multi-part mime I recommend taking apart an Apple email.
