I recently did some t-shirt art for a local car club. All in Illustrator, saved as an Ill-8 EPS. Pretty safe.
So, I hear back today from the car club guy that his printer is having problems with the art. Says it "comes in" as raster art. He wants to know if this was PC or Mac art. Like that makes a difference with Illustrator art? Alarm bells ringing.
Get on the phone with him. He says he finally managed to get the art to import (Import?) Turns out this printer is using CorelDraw on a PC! Corel was choking on a simple Illustrator EPS. Geez...
And then, after I told him I work on a Mac, he had the nerve to say that Mac-Illustrator files are "quirky".
I wanted to let him know that a supposedly professional printer using Corel on a PC is what's "quirky" here. But I bit my tongue.
Amazing what you run into sometimes.
You might be surprised to hear alot of low budget print houses, that are on PC's, say our Mac Files are "Quirky".
That tells me that its not us. Its them.
But First... who uses Corel any more? Second... A PC?
Id say: "Sheesh.. Mr.Professional Printer it sounds like its UpGrade time. Last time i checked (back in 1995, i think)
Macs were still the industry standard for Professional Printing. Ok, Ok you say your the Lowest bidder.. Last time i
checked (5 min ago) you can get an eMac for $799 US, and that will run all your Printers."
So Thorzdad, dont bite your tounge. Let it out. If we Mac user keep biting out toungs, then thoes darn "quirky"
PC users will never learn....
And you can quote me on that!
