Problem - we have no digital copy of a 9 page color newsletter, so I"m going to scan it in to make it available for download. Problem is, scanning it in via Photoshop and doing print to PDF is going to make this an enormous file. Anyone have any advice in making the smallest PDF file size I can?

Scan it at the lowest resolution and size possible and still be readable?
Other than that, if you can get your hands on the original art you can have much greater control over the resulting PDF.

You needn't print to PDF in Photoshop. It will save in PDF format natively.

scan at 150 dpi. (this makes it viewable without squinting and printable)

Save as PDF from Photoshop using JPG compression (watch for it getting ripped apart)

If you are using Acrobat6 use the reduce file size option and save it with Acrobat5 compatability. this will not take it down much further but a 9 page file should get down to around 2.5 MB.
