There's a few different shades of gold in the Pantone book, starting from 872 or thereabouts.

Let me further explain. THe printing over the title is going to be gold foil. So the printer wants me to add a 5th spot color of PMS gold for the title. I guess it doesnt really matter which gold it is, becaue the gold foil is what it is.
Is my thinking in this correct?

From a printer's perspective: You are correct. You can call it anything you want, as long as the art separates properly.

As a printer I'd want it named "Gold Foil" to avoid any confusion... nothing worst then getting a job that says PMS 872 (which IS a metallic gold INK) and wondering what the heck they want to be in done in metal foil. Ink is printed (on a press) while foil is stamped (with a die) - thus you are talking about two totally different things, but I'm sure you knew that.

Yes, I knew that the gold foil was a stamping process, thats why I wanted to make sure it didnt matter which "gold" the 5th spot color was. If it is just for the printer to see which areas are to be coated in the foil, then it doesnt matter which gold.
Thanks to everyone for the responses.
