assignment: using adobe illustrator, create a vector drawing of a symbol for a botanical garden.
Requirements:
• max 6"x6"
• symbol/drawing must use exactly four 'ink' colours: any number of digitally-mixed combinations of the four 'process' colors [cmyk]
• symbol/drawing must include at least one counterform object or negative space [filled with white].
• symbol/drawing must include at least one geometric object, which may enclose the abstract portion or be contains within it.
• symbol/drawing must include at least one organic bιzier path [open or close].
• symbol/drawing must incluse at least 4 layers.
• symbol/drawing must include at least one example of applying transperancy or blending modes.

do not use any letterforms or typographic elements.

I'm not sure I understand the reason for this post, do you want constructive criticism?

If so all I would say is that I like the work you've done, but I can't see any evidence of it including "at least one example of applying transperancy [sic] or blending modes."

I also have some criticism of the assignment itself. "Symbol/drawing must incluse [sic] at least 4 layers" seems like a matter of working preferences to me - some people prefer to work with separate layers for almost every object, others don't seem to know the layers pallette exists; I don't think either is right or wrong, the correct number of layers is the number you can work comfortably with on the project in question.

Unless the gradient used in the petals is considered a transperancy. Good stuff though. I too am a design student, and compared to the stuff I see my colleagues turn in your's looks like it's professional.
